Collection: Square Kufic

Square Kufic is the most geometric of the Arabic scripts — letters reduced to pure right angles, first set into the brick and tile of mosques and palaces nearly a thousand years ago. Each piece in this collection carries a word or a line of verse rendered bead by bead within that grid: love, homeland, a fragment of poetry. Legible to those who read it, quietly abstract to those who don't — meaning worn close to the skin.
